The Durango Compost Company has been providing local solutions for organics waste recycling to the Durango and Four Corners region since its inception in 2008. Our mission is to divert compostable materials from the landfill while creating a valuable product for local gardeners, landscapers and farmers. We do this through on and off-site vermicomposting and thermophillic composting, with services offered to local businesses, restaurants, residents and schools. Started by Jennifer Craig and Tim Wheeler, as of September 2011 recently returned Durango native Sean Kearney has joined the Compost Company and now manages day-to-day operations (more info here).

HAND-CRAFTED COMPOST NOW AVAILABLE IN BULK AND BAGGED!
Thats right! We've teamed up with Native Roots and have been working hard all fall and winter to produce a rich, dark compost from spent grains collected from local breweries and clean construction wood waste. Carefully managed, turned and monitored, this stuff heats up to well over 131°F for several weeks to kill weed seeds and pathogens. It's made entirely from locally-sourced organic waste products and guaranteed to be manure-free and rich in organic matter and nutrients. Our compost is NOW available for purchase at Native Roots Garden Center screened or unscreened, in bulk or bagged, or even blended with high quality topsoil and worm castings (blends coming soon!). Come by and check it out anytime. Price information and a full lab analysis are now posted!
NOTE: We are temporarily sold out of bulk compost (for purchase by the yard) but we do have bagged product, screened and unscreened, still available. Hurry - this stuff is going fast!!
